01What is Taggzi?
Taggzi is a smart ID tag plus an online profile. You attach the small tag to your pet's collar. If your pet ever gets lost, whoever finds them simply taps the tag with their phone or scans its QR code — and instantly sees your pet's profile and a way to contact you.
The person who finds your pet doesn't need an app, doesn't need to sign up, and never sees your phone number or address unless you choose to show it. Taggzi connects you privately.
No app for finders
Any smartphone can read the tag — tap it (NFC) or scan the QR code with the camera.
Private by default
Finders contact you through Taggzi. Your number and email stay hidden.
No battery, ever
Waterproof, lightweight and nothing to charge. It just works, for years.
02How it works
1. Tag
Create your pet's profile and link it to your Taggzi tag.
2. Scan
A finder taps or scans the tag and sees your pet's profile.
3. Alert
You're notified straight away that your pet's tag was scanned.
4. Reunite
The finder emails you through Taggzi (or calls you privately, with Pro) — and your pet gets home.
Every tag also has a short ID printed on it (it starts with TAG-, or PAW- on older tags). If a phone can't read the tag, a finder can type that ID at taggzi.com/find-pet.
03Getting started
You can use Taggzi on the website (taggzi.com) and in the Taggzi app for iPhone and Android. Your account is the same on both — sign in with the same email and password.
Create your account
Sign up on the website or in the app with your name, email and a password. We'll email you a link to verify your email address — please click it, as it unlocks your owner profile and important alerts.
Add your pet
Add your pet's name, species and a clear photo (a photo is needed for new profiles — it's the fastest way for a finder to recognise your pet). You can add breed, colour, date of birth and more at any time.
Get a tag
Order a Taggzi tag, or use the one included with Taggzi Pro. Already have one? Go straight to step 4.
Activate your tag
Tap or scan your new tag and follow the on-screen steps to link it to your pet. Then clip it to the collar — you're protected.
04Your Taggzi tag
The tag is a small, waterproof disc (about 28 × 32 mm) with an NFC chip inside and a QR code on the front. There's no battery and nothing to set up on the finder's side.
Ordering a tag
- Single tags are £2.99 each, plus £2.99 UK delivery.
- Taggzi Pro includes your first tag free — you just pay £2.99 delivery.
- Ordering 5 or more? Delivery is £5.99 for the parcel.
- Tags usually arrive in 3–5 working days (UK & Ireland).
Activating a new tag
- Hold your phone near the tag (top of an iPhone, back of most Android phones), or scan the QR code with your camera.
- Sign in (or create your account) when asked.
- If your tag came with a pairing code, enter it to prove the tag is yours.
- Choose which pet the tag belongs to — or create a new pet profile.
Got a Taggzi from a rescue centre?
Some rescue centres give adopted pets a Taggzi. Scan it and follow the steps to activate it and move it into your own account. See Rescue centre tags for details.
Lost or damaged tag?
Your pet's profile and history stay safe — you just attach a new tag. Pro members can swap tags themselves with Replace Tag; everyone can order a new tag at any time.
05Your pet's profile
Your pet's profile is the page a finder sees when they scan the tag. You're in control of what's on it.
📸 Photos
Your main photo is what finders see. Pro members can add 2 more.
🐾 Details
Species, breed, colour, date of birth and microchip number.
🩺 Medical & vet
Medical notes and your vet's details — choose whether finders can see them.
📞 Contact options
Choose whether to show your phone, email or WhatsApp — or keep them hidden and let Taggzi connect you.
🎁 Reward
Optionally show a reward amount on the profile and poster.
🆘 Emergency contact
A second person finders can call — shown only while your pet is lost. Free for everyone.
🏠 Home address
Stored privately. Used for your Verified Owner Card — you choose whether it's ever shown.
🆘 Add an emergency contact
Add someone else finders can ring if they can't reach you — a partner, neighbour or family member. Their name and number only appear on your pet's profile while Lost Mode is on.
You'll see dates across Taggzi in UK format — DD/MM/YYYY — and you type them the same way (for example, a birthday of 14/03/2021).
06When someone finds your pet
What the finder sees
When a finder scans the tag they see your pet's photo and details, any contact options you've chosen to show, plus three buttons that keep your details private:
Email Owner
Sends you a message privately — your email address stays hidden.
Private Call Pro
A voice or video call through Taggzi (camera optional) — no phone numbers are shared. Shown when you're on Pro.
I Found This Pet
Lets you know your pet has been found, and where.
What you get
- Messages from the finder by email, and a notification when they tap I Found This Pet.
- A scan alert by email and push notification every time your tag is scanned. Pro
- Where it was scanned — Pro members see the scan location on a map. When a finder shares their location you get an instant alert with a map link, a Plus Code and a what3words link to the exact spot.
- Scan history — a list of every scan, so you can see where your pet has been.
- Vet alert — Pro members can have their vet notified too.
07If your pet goes missing
1. Turn on Lost Mode
Tell us roughly where and when your pet was last seen. In the app you can share your current location to pinpoint it.
As soon as Lost Mode is on:
- Your pet's profile shows a big LOST banner to anyone who scans the tag.
- Community Alert subscribers near you are notified to look out for your pet.
- You get an email confirming it, with a one-tap link to print a lost poster.
- Your emergency contact, if you've added one, appears as a "Call" button for finders.
- Pro members' vets can be alerted too.
2. Print a lost poster
Taggzi creates a ready-to-print A4 poster with your pet's photo, details, a QR code finders can scan, and tear-off contact strips. Print it or save it as a PDF, then put copies up locally — vets, pet shops, lamp posts and noticeboards.
3. Share your pet's profile
Share the profile link on social media and local groups — anyone who sees your pet can contact you straight from it.
4. When your pet is home
Switch Lost Mode off (Mark as safe). The LOST banner is removed and Community Alert subscribers are told your pet has been found.
08Community Alerts
Community Alerts is Taggzi's local lost-pet network. Anyone can join — you don't need a tag or an account.
- See all pets currently reported missing, with photos and a map.
- Sign up with your email, your area and how far to look — 5, 10, 25 or 50 miles, or anywhere.
- Confirm from the email we send, and you'll be told whenever a pet goes missing near you (and when it's found).
09Free vs Pro
Taggzi is free for one pet, forever. Taggzi Pro adds more pets and extra protection for £2.99/month or £24.99/year (the annual plan saves around 30%).

🛡 Verified Owner badge & Card
Once your email is verified, Pro members get a ✓ Verified Owner badge on their pets' profiles, and a Verified Owner Card — a page that proves who you are and which pets are yours. Show it to a vet, a finder or the police if you ever need to prove your pet belongs to you.
📋 Pet Passport
Keep your pet's health records in one place — vaccinations, medications, insurance, feeding and behaviour notes, and emergency vet details.
👤 Carers
Going away? Give a dog walker, sitter or family member temporary access until a date you choose. They'll get an email invite, and can keep contact details up to date while your pet is in their care.
📊 Scan analytics & map
See when and where your pet's tag has been scanned, on a map.
🩺 Vet alerts
Add your vet's details to your pet's profile and they can be notified when your pet's tag is scanned or your pet is reported lost.
🔁 Replace a tag yourself
Lost a tag or got a new one? Link the new tag to your pet in seconds — your profile and history carry across.
📸 Extra photos
Add a second and third photo of each pet — different angles and markings help finders recognise them, and all three appear on your lost poster.

Notifications
- Scan alerts — told every time a tag is scanned. Pro
- Weekly digest — a Monday summary of how many times your tags were scanned (and a friendly reminder if a pet still needs a photo).

- Marketing emails — product news and offers; turn off any time.
Subscription
See your current plan, when it renews, and cancel or re-activate at any time. If you cancel, you keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for.
Your data
Download a copy of your data at any time, or permanently delete your account and everything in it.
13Privacy & safety
- Your contact details are hidden by default. Finders reach you through Taggzi — messages (and, with Pro, voice or video calls) are relayed without revealing your number or address.
- You choose what's public — medical notes, vet details, phone, email and WhatsApp can each be shown or hidden.
- Your home address is private and only used for your Verified Owner Card.

Taggzi started with pets, but the same idea — one scan brings it home — works for anything worth finding. These product lines are on the way, and they'll work just like Taggzi-Pet: a tag, a private profile, and an easy way for a finder to reach you.

15Questions & help
Does the person who finds my pet need the Taggzi app?
No. Any smartphone can tap the tag or scan the QR code with its camera. They can also type the tag's ID at taggzi.com/find-pet.
Will a finder see my phone number or address?
Only if you choose to show them. By default, finders contact you through Taggzi and your details stay private.
The tag won't scan — what should I do?
Make sure nothing metal or thick is covering it, and hold the phone flat against the tag for a second or two. The QR code always works as a backup, and so does the ID printed on the tag.
Can I have more than one pet?
The free plan covers one pet. Taggzi Pro covers up to five, each with their own profile and tag.
How much does delivery cost?
£2.99 for 1–4 tags and £5.99 for 5 or more. Pro members get their first tag free and just pay the £2.99 delivery.
Do my old PawTag tags still work?
Yes. Every tag supplied before October 2026 keeps working, including tags with an ID starting PAW-. Just scan or tap it as normal.
I added my pet twice by mistake. What do I do?
Just leave it with us — duplicate profiles are tidied up, and new duplicates are now prevented automatically. If you need a hand, contact us.
Is the Private Call free?
No — private voice & video calls with finders are part of Taggzi Pro. On Pro, a finder can call you through Taggzi with voice or video (the camera is optional on both sides) — no app, and no phone numbers shared on either side. On the free plan, finders can still send you a private message or tap I Found This Pet.
How do I cancel Pro?
Go to Account Settings → Subscription on the website. You keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for.
